Meiosis is the process of cell division that leads to the formation of haploid germ cells-gametes. There are 2 stages of meiosis: meiosis 1 and meiosis 2.
Meiosis, part 1.
In the first meiosis, the number of chromosomes in the cell is halved, and two haploid cells are formed from the diploid cell.

In the second meiosis, the haploidy of the cells is preserved, there is no doubling of the DNA.
