Slow muscle fibers

This model demonstrates the features of slow muscle fibers. Slowly cutting muscle fibers have a high concentration of mitochondria and myoglobin. Although they are less than rapid fibers, they are surrounded by a large number of capillaries. This combination supports aerobic metabolism and fatigue resistance, which is especially important for long-term aerobic loads.
