Determination of starch

The starch test is carried out by adding potassium iodide reagent into a solution or directly to potatoes or other materials, such as bread, crackers or flour. In the presence of starch, a blue-black color is obtained. If the starch is absent, the color will remain orange or yellow as potassium iodide.
