The mammalian placenta is formed from the germinal shells of the fetus, which are tightly adjacent to the wall of the uterus, and establish a close relationship between the embryo and the mother's organism, which serves to feed and breathing the embryo. The placenta is permeable for low molecular weight substances and some proteins.
