HIV

This model demonstrates the structure of the human immunodeficiency virus - hiv. It is a retrovirus from the genus of lentiviruses that causes a slowly progressive disease - HIV infection. The virus infects cells of the immune system that have CD4 receptors on their surface. As a result, the immune system is suppressed and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) develops.
