Gearbox

This animation demonstrates the structure of a mechanical gearbox. A gearbox (mechanical) is a mechanism for transmitting power by rotation, the main function of which is reduction, that is, reducing the effort required to drive a device that converts the transmitted power into useful work. The canonical type of mechanical gearbox is a pair of intermeshing cylindrical gears, of which the driving gear is smaller and the driven gear is larger.
